The Atlanta-based Shadowboxers will be opening for the Indigo Girls on their summer tour, starting June 8th in Aspen, Colorado. Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls first met one of the singers in Shadowboxers at a Seder Supper, heard him sing and got “totally distracted by his voice.” So, who is this band that has gotten the respect of this famous duo?
The founding members, Scott Schwartz, Matt Lipkins and Adam Hoffman met when they all went to Emory University. They added drummer Jaron Pearlman and bassist Ben Williams to complete their sound, which is described as “intelligent, soulful and catchy.”
You may have seen them performing around Atlanta area clubs and venues and festivals throughout the southeast. This spring, they were on a bill with Larkin Poe and supported Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls on her solo tour in May. They’ve also toured the east coast with Matthew Sweet and opened for Ben Folds in March.
